History

PRAISE GATHERING has its origins in a choir which came together in 1985 to sing the ‘Psalms Alive’ songs. At that time the invitation was given “to singers - skilled and unskilled, but with a heart for God – to come and take part in this corporate act of Praise to our God.”

Over the years, many people have responded to that invitation and last summer we had a choir of 400 singers drawn from 125 different churches.

PRAISE GATHERING has recorded several albums over the years, the latest of which 'This is Our God!' (a recording of the 2009 concerts) is available via our website (Praise Gathering Music). The 2009 concerts were also captured on DVD, and this too can be ordered on the website.  These recordings are being distributed nationally by Integrity Music, which renews an association begun in 1989 when Praise Gathering took part in Integrity Music's first overseas recording - 'Amazing love' with Graham Kendrick.

Other highlights include a presentation of 'God with us' with Don Moen, and having special guests such as Elizabeth, Beth and Brad Goodine (from Texas), Jogvan Zachariassen (from the Faroe Isles), Keith and Kristyn Getty and Garry Brotherston take part in our concerts.

The history of PRAISE GATHERING is therefore really a history of God at work in the lives of ordinary people who have experienced His love and forgiveness in their own lives. People who are discovering that praising and worshipping God with their voices and their lives is not something that comes naturally, but is something that has to be learned. People who, in learning to acclaim God, are discovering that, in doing so, they experience the joy of His presence every day!

Psalm 89 v. 15 “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, O Lord.”
